First of all what does graph display exactly?

Would it explain non responsiveness of the application?

Dear Kees,

This graph shows that you had one* full GC cycle that took almost 2 ful seconds to complete. PS MarkSweep is the stop-the-world GC, so you may have seen a single, full stop of 2 seconds in your application.

If you experience prolonged unresponsiveness and not just a single moment of freezing, the explanation may be trickier. The 2 second freeze may have caused other parts of the system to run into timeouts or it may have triggered unexpected race conditions. If that is the case, you should see unfamiliar exceptions in the logs and a restart should fix it.

If that is not happening and/or the problem persists after a restart we don't have enough information to help you.

Could you please also post the memory graph that goes with this graph? That might explain what is happening here. What exceptions do you see in the logs that may be related?

Kees Jan

* probably one, if there were more in the same column of pixels, it may have been hidden. :)

Nothing strange in the logs.
