Googling for a Dutch java forum, I stumbled across the anouncement on www.nljug.nl (http://www.nljug.org/pages/articles/weblog/00116/?template=showarticle.html) that a new java forum was started. Because there didn't seem to be a proper Dutch Java forum yet, I rushed over to have a look.
The first thing I notice, is the lack of subjects. Although the home page of www.nljug.org (http://www.nljug.org/) states
Founded in 1998, the Dutch Java Users Group consists of business partners, software developers, application architects, technical managers, students, and new media developers that have a common interest in all aspects of Java Technology.
the number of available topics is quite limited and doesn't quite reflect what seem to be the nljug's objectives. What I sorely miss for instance, is a forum for developers. Also, some kind of general purpose forum, for messages such as this one, may come in handy.
The second thing that attracts my attention, is the choice of the 'spoken' language. If I'm correct, nljug is short for 'Nederlandse (Dutch) Java User Group', so I'm somewhat surprised to see that all threads are in English.
Maybe one of the initiators could elaborate a bit on the specific purposes and goals of this new forum and the added value compared to existing forums like forums.sun.com (http://forums.sun.com/), forums.java.net (http://forums.java.net/), www.java-forums.org (http://www.java-forums.org/) etc.
