Dear All,

Here are the presentation slides for my Devoxx 2009 talk and for the BOF I presented yesterday night.

On twitter, many commented that the Tools in Action talk was too short. I agree. :-/ Next time I will put in for a longer talk. I don't know I want to try to fill three hours, as someone suggested. :-)

The live demo can be found at http://java-monitor.com/livedemo.html. Check it out.

Hi,

Just to say I really liked the BOF about java-monitoring. I learned a lot new stuff in just one hour.

Dear Robin,

Thank you for the compliment. The BOF was actually a lot more fun than the TiA talk. You guys participated really well and I learned from you too. :-)

Which makes me curious: what are you going to do differently, based on what you learned Monday night?

Dear Kees Jan,

I'm not a Java expert, so my knowledge about the JVM and Administrating was worthless. That's why I came to the BOF.

With "learned new stuff" I mean almost everything in the session:)
The java-monitoring tool, FindBugs, the tips and tricks. How to tune, interesting options, where to look first when you have unexpected behaviour, How the GC works, ...
With the new knowledge I can search for more information and learn more and maybe become an expert:).

And what to do differently? I'll install the java-monitor tool and see how my current java-programs runs. My code is up and running, but maybe there are some improvements.

And I really enjoyed your enthousiam when explaining the puzzlers.
One of the best sessions I participated on Devoxx.

grtz
Robin

Dear Robin,

Right, so you're going to stop flying blind. That's the start. Careful, tuning is fun and can be addictive.
